Upgrade Motherboard before Windows XP upgrade?

I'm getting ready to upgrade to Windows XP Home. I've got an ASUS P2B motherboard with a 450Mhz processor. My options are to stay with the existing hardware, upgrade the processor only, or upgrade the processor and the motherboard.

I think the P2B will work ok with XP, but I'd like to know if there are good reasons to go to a newer motherboard, e.g., features that XP will take advantage of, or significant performance improvements. Interested in your thoughts and opinions!

I don't really like playing with hardware just for the fun of it and changing the motherboard means reinstalling all the apps. So my question is, it really worth it to get a newer motherboard to run XP? What cool things would a newer board do, besides being faster? I'm pretty sure it would do better power management and stuff like that, but is there any compelling reason to change?
