Upgrade mobo/CPU now or wait?

I was looking at ASRock's DUAL SATA2 mobo, with its AGP and PCIe slots. However, what is a good CPU/memory combo with this board? And to be specific, I mean brand memory and what model AMD CPU.

I was looking at going wit ha budget cpu of +3200 with 2 gigs of DDR400 ram or +3700 with 1 gig of ram.

As mentioned, I am keeping my vid card, seeing how the vid card market is ridiculous (with all these new releases every 5-6 months).

Err, forgot to mention, im trying to keep it less than 400-500 USD.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ $297
CORSAIR XMS 1GB (2 x 512MB) $103 ($88 after rebate).

or

AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Venice $284
Patriot Signature 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR $144

playing the poorly coded, yet fun as hell, BF2 >:] I also want to be able to play BF 2142 when it comes out this year or whatever.

IMO, you should get the mem mentioned above, but two gig if you dont want lag and dont want to be the last person to be loaded on a map. I have a gig of corsair running at 2-3-3-6 @ 444mhz/ xfx 7800gt, and I still get lag time to time. A good friend of my has an old 6800ultra agp and two gig of mem and gets no lag and is usually the first or the second loaded on the map.........BF2 is a real resource hog if you crank up the settings.

perhaps I should wait until summer when perhaps prices would go down even more especially with the prospect of Intel's new Conroe >:]
