upgrade Laptop Ram questions

Hi all, I want to upgrade the memory in my 15.4'' Core 2 Duo HP dv6626us; and I am stuck with should I go with 2GB (2 x 1GB) or should I go with 2.5GB (1 x 2GB and 1 x 512mb)? If I go with 2GB I can take advantage of dual-channel memory, but if I go with 3GB then I would have an extra gigabyte of memory. I just an average user doing web surfing, word documents, and the occasional MMORPG. For what I am doing would I see better performance using dual-channel memory, or having 2.5GB?
