upgrade intel i7 4790k to Intel i7-7820X

Definitely not an upgrade strictly for gaming. The Cache restructure looks to be more for server needs, not anything gaming. BW-E is better overall for gaming than SL-X from what i've seen thus far. Definitely Not a worth-while upgrade for you.

Complete waste of money for gaming at 4K. You are GPU-bound at 4K, not CPU-bound. If for whatever reason a specific game requires more CPU power, just overclock your 4790K.

Okay guys, thanks a million
I'll keep the 4790k.
But to upgrade from 1080 to 1080 Ti wouln't be a good idea

Well, you wanted advice. The 1080Ti can easily handle most 4K. Value is high for your 1080 right now. I guess you can always wait until Volta.

Why upgrade at all? 4k60 is really easy to run for a GTX 1080. 4k144hz is the real deal for gaming and will be coming out soon. Better start saving!

if you want right now the best gaming CPU out there get 7700K and OC it
if you want the best gaming CPU for the future right now get 6900K and OC it
if you don't want to spend so much money wait 2 months for coffee lake 6Core and OC it
