Upgrade installation questions ...

... I'm upgrading my old secondary system (k62-500) to a Duron 950. I got the K7S5A mobo and a Coolermaster hs/fan. My question is this,

First, how do I use the acrtic silver between the hs and cpu? Second, will I need an intake fan in my case to keep the Duron cool enough?

Thanks.

Use a razor blade to place a very small amount on the CPU core, then apply another small amount on the heatsink where the core will touch it. Make sure you don't touch the ASII with your bare skin. You really don't have to worry about heat on the Duron even close to as much as the Athlon CPUs especially at 850MHz. If you have a good HS/F, then that should be all you need if you have good ventalation in the case although I would highly recomend some sort of airflow going through the case from case fans. You wont burn up the CPU by running it without any case fans, so I would check the core temp under load and idle and see if it is too high. Then you can decide if you need active cooling in the case.
