I am in the market for a reasonably priced ($100-150) AGP card. I know of some decent cards already, but I would like some recommendations concerning one thing: noise.

If anyone has/had a good AGP card (X800GTO or higher performance wise is what I am interested in) that is actively cooled, but silent or VERY near silent during Windows or anything else non-gaming, I would like to know about it.

Passively cooled is, unfortunately, not an option. I have a Shuttle and it would not be able to handle the increase in heat without kicking on the back (and only) fan to noise levels beyond what I want.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

This card based on price target, memory, space requirement and it's power sipping ways

Good AGP cards are getting harder to find. I have been very pleased with this one:

thanks for the link to the card power requirement page, that is definitely something that I need to take into consideration, as I only have a 300 watt power supply.

The card also looks like a good card, and the x1650 is something that I was definitely considering, but is it quiet?

that looks to be a good card and at a good price ( I <3 OEM), but, and I am assuming you own the card, does it make any noise at all when doing regular Windows/non-gaming things?

X1950pro is the current best AGP card. And probably the last, decent card to be released before manufacturers completely give up on it and go to PCI-E.

Yeah, but I think that the 1950 might be a little to expensive for my budget right now. Although, the power requirements on that one would not be an issue with the move to 80nm, so even with it's price tag ($250, although I have yet to see it anywhere for agp), it is something worth considering.

The 1600X is quiet. At least, I can't hear it at all over the background noise in the computer room. The 1950X is a pretty good leap. Unless you are a hard core gamer, it's not cost effective.

Silent during windows? With my 7800gs I can set the fan speed in 2d ,low3d and high 3d,
I set mine 30%, 60%,100% . Don't all cards do that? with riva tuner or coolbits?
