Alright so recently I bought a nF4 Ultra-D motherboard, 7800GT video card, and a 3500+ AMD motherboard. Now after alot of work I got everything plugged in and when I press the button on the motherboard everything starts up and all the fans are running/lights are on ect. My problem is that when I plug my monitor into the adaptor and then into the video card, my monitor is just blank. I cant figure out whats wrong!

Can anyone help me out as to what might be wrong? did I plug something in wrong? is something not compatable?

Also, the card I have says its SLI-ready, but my card is set to VGA, could that be the problem, or can the card run VGA mode too? Thanks a ton to whoever can help me.
 
Has nothing to do with SLI-ready... Maybe the 7800GT is just dead... Do you have the opportunity to test it? Also see if your system does boot with another graphics card...
 
Yes I plugged in the monitor, and it has the orange light on to tell me its recieving power. I couldnt test the card, but its fan is running so I know its recieving power and functioning. The RAM doesetn really lock in, but im not sure if its supposed to, its teh same size (DDR400) as the motherboard supports, but when I put the sticks in there they dont lock or anything, they just sit there. I dont know if that would have anything to do with it.
 
no, theyre not locked in, its like they dont fit. I put them in there but when I press the tabs inwards towards the ram they dont fit into the socket, put just press on the sides of the sticks. I dont see how I could push the ram in any further though.
 
The RAM only fit in one way. There is a notch in each stick that is slightly off center. Make sure you have the RAM in the proper direction. It will go all the way down and have the locking arms locked-in when installed correctly.
 
could the RAM not locking into position make it so nothing happens on the monitor when you start up the computer?

And the RAM wont lockin correctly, is there a difference between DDR400 and Dual DDR400?

I stick the ram in the only way it should fit but I dont want to like shove it down and break it so I push down a little bit, but the levers still wont lock the RAM in.
 
Yea, if the RAM is not inserted properly, you won't ever get your system started. The fans will turn, your HD might spin up, but you won't ever boot.

Please list your system specs.

 
If they are fitted right, don't be afraid of pushing them in... It could look like you use too much force, but at one moment, they will just entirely shove in, and the clips will lock automatically...

power supply - 350Watt 450ATX
motherboard - LanPartyUT nF4 Ultra-D
videocard - Geforce 7800GT
Processor - AMD 3500+
RAM - 2 sticks of 512 MB DDR 400
 
yes, there is a sticker on the RAM sticks that says:
" DDR 400
512 MB "
plus my old motherboard usd DDR 400 and it worked. I dont understand why the ram wont fit in, ive tried shoving it as hard as I can now, but it just wont go in far enough for the clamps to latch on.

the model of my PSU is KY-450ATX, the +12V is 10.0A, but I dont think it has anything to do with the power supply, since I can turn it on and all the fans will spin,
 
alright I got the ram in, I had to connect it to one fo the clamps first, then shove down and push teh other in. Thanks for your help, ill try installing the drivers now.

WOW!!!
There's no way that system will boot with that PSU.
You would probably need +12V amps of at least 18 just to get the CPU to boot and display video. You realistically want at least 22A@+12V at a minium. You definitely need to upgrade your PSU.

But your RAM issue must also be solved. If you have the stick lined up correctly, it will fit. Don't be afraid to use some force, as they are supposed to be a very tight fit.

 
i'm buying at a local store, I almost always buy online but im supposed to go to a big LAN tonight, so im gonna need it soon. Im probably just gonna go in, check the prices, walk out, call my friend and have him check the prices online, and then buy if I need it or go to a different store (theres about three stores in a town near me that are all computers).
