I have a

Motherboard: Asus A8V
CPU: AthFX-53
Mem: 1 Gb DDR400
Drive: WD Raptor 74gb
Video Card: ATI x800
Sound Card: Dead Soundblaster, need new card

My main problem is that I don't have PCI Express for new graphics cards. I want to be able to play games like NWN2 and Gothic3 with all the bells and whistles. Can I just trade out the Motherboard with something else and get a fast graphics card or should I redo the whole deal? what motherboard should I switch to, what sound card and graphics card should I get? Thanks

I would recommend just getting a new motherboard. It'd save you money you could use for a new video card. If you want to upgrade more than that you'd have you go with AM2 or 775, both of which would require DDR2, and it'd end up costing tons more once you have to replace your RAM and CPU in addition to the motherboard.

Socket 939 This is the board I use it is fast and solid and Cheap I saw it for $80 or less I bought this board because I had a AGP Radeon 9800, I have since upgraded to PCI e X850 XT. you can change this board and still use your AGP and save for a Good PCI e Good luck I have the AMD 64 FX 55 @3Ghz and this set up may not be as fast as the new core2 but the difference in performance is not worth dumping $600 to change over.
