i currently have ati 2600xt 512mb and am getting a lot of artifacting recently even at 2d temps. i am thinking about upgrading the card to a 3850 512mb but they are about 190, or would it be better to get a 2900pro 512mb for about 140. i do play fps like unreal tournament 3 and crysis, and the witcher.
 
HD 3850 512MB hands down. It will run faster and cooler. The 2900Pro will consume much more power and you may have to buy a new power supply for it.
