CPU - Intel I5-6400 2.7 ghz
Memory - 8 gigs ddr4 2133
Windows 10 home 64 bit

Main purpose of the computer is web browsing, email, video editing for youtube and playing games on steam.

Games:

Path of Exile
Team Fortress Two
Left 4 Dead 2 (L4D3 when it comes out)
7 Days to Die
Doom
Borderlands 2... just your typical steam games.

I would like to be able to play Metro Last Light and The Witcher 2.

Price range, less than $200.

Suggestions? Does not have to be AMD. Just whatever gives the best quality for the price.

Normally I'd suggest a 470/480, or the newer 570/580 Polaris cards at that price point, but miners are eating up all the supply of those AMD cards, so finding one in stock might be tough.

The GTX 1060 is the card to get then, especially the 6GB version which you might find on sale in your price range, otherwise the 3GB versions are well under $200.

Wow, those NewEgg prices are absurd. Microcenter has 580s in stock at a decent price though. Too bad, the 470 used to be a very good deal.

Yeah, what's with the Rx 470/480/570/580 shortages?

Ethereum mining. The thread in this forum and in Off Topic (on bitcoin) cover the recent price boom.

I was just looking at Newegg this morning thinking to myself what happened to AMD's pricing? (I was actually thinking maybe they cut production of Polaris in order to increase production of Vega)

Your best option is the RX 470/570, there might not be consistent stock on newegg, but other etailers do have it in stock at the average prices.

The CPU is also problematic. Its rather poky clock speed wise. Flat out it would just about hit 3GHz. Would do fine for the games listed but Witcher 3 would get interesting.

RX 570. You don't need anything more than that. Even a 1050Ti would be sufficient.

Yea, actually, I should think the 270x would handle the first set of games the op mentioned without any problem. For sure you would have to decrease some settings in MLL and W3 though. I played W3 with a HD7770, but could only get about 30FPS. low, 900P.

I just did search on Newegg for 570/470/480 and did notice stock being down but there were 4 cards under $200 that would fill his needs.

Ummm... what? Shortages! You're joking right, have you looked for any of those cards? Seems to be someone has an agenda to push Nvidia cards here.

OP for your price point I would be looking at a 570 there are plenty out there.

Nice edit. ;) Yes, there are cards out there, but prices have gone up on the ones that are available, and Newegg and Amazon - which are the main retailers for a lot of people - don't have have many of the normally available models in stock. If the OP can find a good 470/570 or 480/580 under $200, I would by all means go for one.

I have a bunch of AMD cards (3x R9 390, 6x RX 470, 1x RX 460) and 2 Ryzen builds, so no, I don't have a anti-AMD or pro-Nvidia bias. Or anti-Nvidia bias, for that matter.

EDIT: Assuming it stays in stock, the XFX RS XXX Edition RX 570 4GB OC+ is $189.99 on Amazon right now, so I would go for that.

EDIT #2: That didn't last long...
