upgrade from P4 3ghz to Athlon 64 3200+??

My friend who is a retail employee has a chance at getting a athlon 64 3200+ w/ asus mobo for $199. He already got a P4 3ghz? This a great deal, should he get it? I don't think the performance increase will be that noticeable.

the performance increase probably wouldn't be noticed,but it will be slightly faster.
