Hi:

I recently lost my power supply, which took my CPU/Mobo out with it. I've had an XP2000+ and a K7S5A forever, and I really don't feel like reinstalling my OS to get everything right with a new mobo.

IF the original K7S5A was still offered, I'd buy it and pop it right in. Since it isn't, can I use the K7S5A Pro with no problems, as in no OS reinstall? If I can/can't, can I do this with another mobo?

Yeah... I'm only using this computer for another 6 months, so the least amount of fuss, the better.

The ECS is $40 shipped at newegg

BTW, What OS are you using? Win98/ME are a little more forgiving when it comes to mobo changes than XP, But it still can be done with XP as well. There is an FAQ on this subjuct. I believe that it is titled "Helping Windows survive a motherboard change" or something to that effect. Ah, Here it is Linky

XP.

Well, I'm hoping NOT to have to do that, we'll see when I try out the new mobo, I guess :)
