Hi, i recently aquired a 15/2 mbit connection from my ISP. Problem is that the routers are only designed to handle 10mb and are really choking it. Max im pulling is about 900ish kbs on the download and oddly enough its choking the upload down from 200kb to 160kb.

First off anyone know why its choking the upload. Secondly doesn anyone know a router that can handle the new download speeds. Prefer wireless but i dont need more then standard g , just need the wired portion to handle more.

I'm more familiar with commercial stuff but am interested as well.

dslreports.com may have some reviews that are helpful for you.

I would think that 15 Mbs is pushing it for a SOHO router, but then again its not my forte'.

I have used many flavors of SOHO routers/firewalls at my house with my FiOS 15/2. With each device I obtained 1500+ Kbps consistantly with bursts up to 1800ish...

Linksys WRT54G
Dlink (given to me by Verizon)
Cisco Pix 501

Same speeds on all three devices.

edit: Upload stay at about 260-280Kbps...

You will need a router with a wan port that is 100BaseT, most are only 10BaseT. So google for "router with 100baseT wan port" , then check the router specs at the manufacturer's website. The flyer that I received from Verizon for FIOS service indicated that a router was included in the package.

Wow..I have a 15/2 line and when testing using the supplied DI604...it depends on server location, time of day

If you go to broadbandreports..I have checked each server..I live in FL..slowest in SF at 3/2 , strangely the DC server ususall reports 14/2

I never get more than 15/2 on test...most often I get 14+/1.7-1.8

I tested ATI.com d/l of 5.10 drivers..I got a d/l speed at 1.8-2.0mgs(earlier I was hitting 600-700)

my uploads usually testing at 1.7=225kb/sec

JRock you are getting very sweet speeds...do you get this regardless of the time of day and server location?

I do not see a real need for 15/2...should have styaed with 5/2

for those who want to test there FIOS for speeds try this
http://miranda.ctd.anl.gov:7123

It really seems server location, time of day makes a difference....

I am disappointed that I do not see overall faster performance from 15/2

I getting a D-Link 624 to replace my Netgear WGR614v5...just does not work attached to FIOS and not working well piggybacked to DI604 for BT stuff...always get a NAT error

I wish I could get FIOS here. I've definitely got the router for it (SonicWall TZ 170) but the best I can do for speed is 3Mbps/256kbps over cable. Some day I'll use all the throughput that router can support.
