is there anything out there worthwhile? I don't play a ton of games, but I'd like to be able to play the new ones at a reasonable quality level...

I'm looking to do the same thing and I'm looking at either a 9800pro or a 6600GT. Futureshop had 9800pro AIW for $200 off at $199 last week. Don't know if the sale is still on or not. Props to a fellow Albertan! :)

I'd like a good upgrade for $80 myself, but it's not really possible.

Usually, the point where the frame rates start to drop off is anything under X700 Pro/9800 Pro, and 6600 GT. In other words, in general the 6600 non-GT and X550 etc all lag behind those cards. You picked a sweetspot in price where the more "acceptable" cards are unattainable. You'll have to spend a little more on a card unless you buy used.

If you're looking to buy used in Canada, check the forums at Red Flag Deals, they've usually got some decent stuff out there at good prices.

The 9800 pro looks good... how much better is it than an ti4200?

Isn't it a bit old also? I would gladly spend a couple extra bucks to get something comparable that is newer, or is my logic flawed? Wouldn't I want a more recently produced card?

9800Pro and 6600GT, about 130. The XFX 6600GT on Newegg goes for 126, save up 46 dollars and get it.

AIW is a waste of money if you just need a gaming card IMO.

i do a lot of web design with flash and use photoshop cs2 a lot... would the AIW be worth anything? or is it just for video editing? or TV watching?

also, what about a 9800 "flashed to pro" i've seen some ads for those?

The AIW is a 9800Pro with a TV Tuner, that much I know. TV tuner is pretty much for TV watching/editing/capturing. So I don't believe it's worth it, unless there's some other feature that has anything to do with what you need.

Flash and CS2 is based more on CPU/RAM than video card I believe.

I wouldn't know about those, but its the same idea as a 6800NU with more pipes.
