Ah..... I was just thinking of the same thing, a cheap card to get me by. My GF3 Ti-200 struggles with Desert Combat, handles BF1942 reasonably well.

What is the video forum posistion on these MX 4000s that are in the same price range.

TIA

Oh! This card at newegg has 8xAGP/128MB/FX5200 and says it supports DX9.0.

Would that be worth $5-$10 more?

The MX4000 is trash. It's the crippled version of the MX440/MX420 (64 Bit memory interface as opposed to 128 Bit), which was already pretty outdated. The FX5200 may support DX9, but at 15FPS on average. :frown: The Ti4200 is still much faster.

A GF4MX of any stripe is a step back from your GF3, and a 5200 is at best a step sideways. Look for a 4200, or save your pennies for a cheap 9600Pro/XT or 5900XT. And aim for 128MB, not 64 or 256.

Pete,

Yea, I've been looking at the Ti-4200s at Newegg. But I'm hesitant based on the mixed reviews on the "REFURB" stuff from newegg, not really being refurb, just untested returns....
