Upgrade from Barton 2500+ @ 2500 to A64 worth it?

I'm thinking about upgrading, to an A64 and PCI-Express. I don't know if I should do it now, or just wait for a while longer. Is the upgrade from my chip to an A64 worthwhile? I game, program, and do other random things with my computer. If the A64 is worth it, which model would you recommend?

Unless you have a PCI-E vid card, or are wanting one...I would just keep what you have. You wont notice having an A64 unless you get something clocked higher then you are at now.

If you do..go with the 3200 and oc it. I can run 2.6 with my work rig on air.

Meh, if you have money, why not.

But it's not gonnna be a hugely noticeable change, save for in games maybe.

Here's how i've upgraded:
Athlon XP 1700+ Palamino (stock)
Athlon XP 2500+ Barton (1980 MHz - stupid mobo wouldn't OC well)
Athlon 64 s754 3200+ NewCastle (stock - stupid mobo had no AGP locks)
Athlon 64 s939 3200+ Venice (2600 MHz - finally got a decent OCing mobo 😀)

I know that most of those upgrades were barely that, but yet i don't regret a single one 🙂

So i say why not...get a Venice & have some fun OCing 😀
