I reck'n for $60 -100 you've got a nice performance increase. Then there's Dx 10 to get ready for, with VISTA and that new vid card won't be cheap, but a 4800 should get things humming along just nice until we get something new from the CPU manufacturers. Both AM2 and C2D are yesterdays lunch for 939 owners, nothing new there.

no....C2D is the only way to go for your situation.

noooo!! dont do it .... get a C2D with a new mb.
C2D E6300 ($180)+ Gigabyte S3 ($120) and overclock that E6300 to 3Ghz+.
for about same cash but much better results.
