upgrade from a 9500 pro ?

I play wwii online which after a new patch is demanding for older cards, I also will be playing games like FAR CRY and DOOM 3.

after a recent patch to this WWII ONLINE I dropped about 15-20 fps.


Is my 9500 pro still a worthy card ?

and if I were to upgrade should I wait until the new ATI's and Nvidia's are released or should I get one now ?

Wait until the next gen series of cards. The 9500 Pro is an excellent card and should run Doom 3 well, though not at exceptional settings.

Unless you're a real performance geek, the 9500Pro should be fine for both FarCry and D3 so long as you use reasonable graphics settings.

its a good card but if you can score a $100 or so for it, you can pick up a 9800 pro for another $100 which would be a damn fine upgrade

my 9500 pro runs far cry admirably at 1024x768 with everything set to "very high." get about 40 fps, some dips to 20s but that is rare. worth it to take advantage of the awesome textures!

upgrade to 9800 pro or better. anything less is not a worthy upgrade. hell i'm still waiting for the retail NV40's + the NV40 / R420 comparisons. come on and start selling them already... i need some DX9 hardware ffs.

Wait on the next-gens, definitely. Just dial down the details for the next month or so, and take your pick between the X800 and the 6800.
