Upgrade from a 7900gs: worth it?

Hello.

I was thinking of upgrading my video card to match its beastly processor and mobo. I don't think a 7900gs does a quad core justice.

I'm thinking of getting an 8800gt because of ageia support. Is it worth it right now? When are the high end 9 series nvidia cards coming out? I upgrade about once every 1.5 years due to budgetary constraints. Is it worth it to upgrade now or should I wait?

Thanks.

I don't know..I have the MSI 8800 GT OC in my newegg card just thinking of hitting the button. But with the new card release right around the corner..its hard to do.

I went from a 7900GS to a 2900Pro, I noticed a pretty decent improvement, and a 8800GT is probably more powerful then my 2900Pro @ 800mhz (the speed I run it at) so you should see even more improvement.

yeah, what games do you play, what resolution, etc? don't reflexively upgrade to keep your quad from getting lonely, as tempting as that is. I can tell you from experience that upgrading for the sake of upgrading gets very expensive very quickly... speaking of which, does anyone want my 3870? I just heard about this new card...
