upgrade from 8800gts 320 to 8800gt 512?

Even for Crysis I wouldn't bother. No card, not even an 8800 Ultra can play full DX10 with everything maxed at the resolutions people are using today (1600x1200 and 1920x1080 etc). I'd wait until the next high end cards before I decide to buy.

Only if you won't be disappointed with an even newer card 1 month from now that beats the 8800gt. I'm personally waiting to see how the rv670 performs, as well as the card Nvidia will release later with all 128 shaders enabled on the g92.

oh really...im in the same boat, but my step up is gone. maybe ill just sit this one out and wait for G90...but isnt the 8800GT G92? *is confused*

eh, if you have evga i'd wait until they release the new gts card at the end of november and step up to the new 640mb version then.

Yeah, I'm having buyers remorse as well. It's not so much the performance, but the single slot solution and of course the cheaper price tag.

The only logical thing to do right now is take the advice above me and wait for a new line that offers better performance in Cyrsis. Thanks to Cyrsis, it will likely remain the hallmark benchmark well into the upcoming year (s).

Pretty much. When a card can play Crysis and FlightSimX among other DX10 titles in full details at a decent resolution (above 1024x768) is the time I would be buying. Until then I'd hold out. Current cards perform admirably in DX9 and to use DX10 sometimes means too much performance loss. I'd suffer with DX9 as long as I could. I like DX10 details, but the performance sometimes makes you feel like just going to DX9 to play it smoothly.

my step up is over and gone already also. i've had the card for a few months now.

Fortunately I can upgrade my 8800gts XXX 320mb to a GT Stock for free (Ebay ftw)- the current 320mb limit is already causing enough problems at 1280x1024 for me. Waiting for the next cards is fine - but during that period my GTS is going to decrease in value faster than a GT.
