I am looking for help with 2 questions:

1) what sort of performance increase would i see moving from a BFG 6800 Ultra OC to an EVGA 7800GT? I am noticing a lot of limitations on games, including older ones like Silent Storm, where i can't turn the details up to where i would like them to be. i can't seem top find many satisfying reviews which do direct comparisons with what i have.

2) Does anyone anticipate a major pricing change (documentation please) in the coming days which would affect the GT? All the hubbub about the ultra high end nVidia/ATI cards i irrelevant unless it has some downwards price pressure. If i were to upgrade money is important, as this mobo and vid are only 2 months old. i think i could get ~$350 for my present card and mobo, so the deal here (http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...tid=40&threadid=1723009&enterthread=y) where you get mobo and vid sounds great for only another $50-$75 out.

thank you very much.

Somewhere there is a link to a GT for only 289....I think Rollo posted it (from tigerdirect....comapny is 3D Fuzion.)

I made the same upgrade you now contemplate.....although I paid 369USD and got BF2 with mine...it was worth it. I'd love a GTX or GTX 512....but I cannot afford it....

hmmmm; that's just a bit too much for me. But i am wondering if the new 512 when it comes out will push the GTX prices down...

I'm supposing you are getting a new PCI-E motherboard with it too, why don't you get that newegg combo where you get an EVGA 7800GT + EVGA SLI motherboard and Call Of Duty 2 for just 380$.

thanks i know about that one. and i have waivered...

but i just really want to make sure this card is worth it and that when the new cards come out that the GT doesn't take a big price drop

but thank you my eye is on that all the time
