Upgrade for a 7900 GS?

I'm sporting an eVga 7900 GS and while it does good, there's a few games I'd like just slightly better performance out of.

Are there any sub $200 cards that would get me a performance boost? What about sub $300?

Rest of the system: C2D 6300, 4 gigs RAM.

I just upgraded from an EVGA 7900GS to an 8800GTS 320MB and there was a big difference. However, there are really no other cards out there in that price range that would make a big enough impact on your games.

I love my 7900GS, still a great card, but like you i wanted just a little more, and the 8800GTS delivers a ton more.

OP, I have the same card (mine is the KO version, which is factory OC'ed), and I'm wondering which games you felt needed a better card?

Did you OC your 7900 at all?

I've been debating for a while now whether to hold the 7900 or seriously look at something like the 8800GTS.

Thanks.

Yeah, I agree with the others. I wouldn't go less than an 8800 GTS 320

But only after I'd overclocked the sh1t out of the GS first.

Those EVGA 7900s OC like nuts with decent airflow near your card. Watch the memory as it will be the limiting factor in how high you could get. Check around, the 7900gs's are highly sought after for this fact and one can get over 1k more in 3d marks with the right tweaking. The best thing is that evga will replace the card if you oc and have problems with it, now dont be dumb and melt the thing trying to get too much out of it.
