Am I wasting cash if I choose to upgrade from my current 6420 to the 6750? Will preformance differ in games like CoD4 and Crysis?

With your e6420 already pushed up to 3.25GHz there is no reason to consider any other C2D processor currently available.

You might see small improvements moving to a quad-core but for gaming your real bang-for-the-buck will come from your video card. Wait for nVidia to release the G92 8800GTS-640 (I have heard early December), which should be a nice upgrade from your G80 8800GTS.
