Upgrade Decision...

I'm about ready to cave in and buy a FC-PPGA P3 600E, 650 or 700 to upgrade my Dell XPS R400 and I'm not sure which to get (others have said it works with a converter card). The price difference between the 600E/650 and the 700 is about $50 and I will be unable to overclock until I replace this motherboard, which I may do shortly if I can find a good and cheap BX or 133A board. My RAM will likely be a problem too as it is only PC100, though I am unsure how far it will overclock.

Would you recommend a 600E, 650 or 700, considering that I will probably not be overclocking soon? If I were to purchase a new motherboard and some new RAM, which would be the better choice?

The 600E doesn't seem like such a good choice because the 650 is so close to it in price. Is there some reason that I should consider it?

Thanks

You have to be careful with those OEM mobos , yours might not be able to support anything higher than what you have maybe only up to 450MHz P3

Wow, thanks for the quick reply.:)

Others on Dell's "DellTalk" forums have said that the upgrade has worked, so I am sure this will not be an issue.

Depending what you use your computer for but i really think for now the 650 will do just fine then later on just overclock it
