Specs:
Asus a7n8x 2.0 bios rev1008
athlon xp 2800+ (set at 2700+ in bios)
9800pro AIW
74gig raptor
2x1gig pdp ram
sound blaster something platinum I think
XP Home

My power supply burnt out a few weeks ago, since then i've replace my ps, os hard drive, and got another gig of ram for the helluvit. I can't get through 3dmark 03 or 05. I have a screen of the 03 error but my friends server is down rigt now so i'll post it later. The error is "FMOD error in FSOUND_SetVolume: An invalid parameter was passed to this function". When I play counter-strike now if I set the resolution above 1024x768 the game lags a bunch then usually locks up. If I set it at that resolution or below it seems to run ok. I also flashed the latest bios during my whole upgrade process.

Before my power supply burnt out everything worked perfectly.

Edit: oh and I did try both ram sticks by themselves and nothing really changes, so I don't think it's ram.

As a fact-finding step, start by either taking out the sound card, or moving it to PCI slot #4 and disabling all onboard sound-related functions (MIDI, Gameport, audio, and firewire if your card has FW).

Check that your RAM is getting enough voltage. 2.7 volts is probably a good idea. I also recall Mushkin finding that 1GB DIMMs produced nasty performance drops in the A7N8X, so who knows if that's been addressed or not :p

Other than that... well, the obvious two things: (1) maybe your mobo or other hardware took splash damage when your old PSU gave out; and/or (2) maybe your new PSU is not so stable. What brand & model is this new one?
