Upgrade choice

Ok my rig is a 3500+ newcastle, geforce 6800 gt (AGP), and a gig of value RAM. I built this thing 2 years ago and it is seriously aging. I want to upgrade for maybe $500 so I would get a new mobo, another gig of ram, and probably a Geforce 7900 or x1800. Would this be smart or should I try and wait until Conroe or the Am3 comes out? Also I'm scared that the CPU would limit the New GPU (7900,x1800)! This is another big problem. I'll check back tomorrow to see what was said. It's LATE.

Cant sleep. Run mostly games like FEAR (gonna get it actually pretty soon), D3, Source... games like that.

In my opinion your cpu is fine for probably the rest of the year.
AM2 doesn't look like it's going to be very much use but if you want an upgrade path... maybe
Conroe will probably blast AMD away, but do you want to wait for end July/September?

It's a shame your board doesn't support PCI-E...
Get a nice GPU/MB, chuck 2 gb of ram in it and watch it fly in my book 😉
Good luck!
