That`s the safe and wise way of when to update your bios, some people upgrade to every new bios update, but remember there`s always a risk of a badflash,in general if it`s working fine you don`t need to update it.

Bios updates are there to fix certain problems so if you feel that you will benefit from a bios update then go ahead.

Nonsense.. of course you should. Bios upgrading isn't as archaic as it used to be, it's very simplified nowadays. Bad flashes and errors do occur, but 99.999% of the time it's user error. The most common mistake is people still flashing a new bios running in windows. ALWAYS flash your bios in DOS mode. Make a boot disk, exit to dos mode, boot in command prompt only, whatever... just don't flash when running windows!!

Most of the real tech guys (of which I'm not one, I am more of a shade tree mechanic when it comes to computers) would tell you to only upgrade your bios to fix a problem, or if it was necessary to run a higher speed cpu or some other required update along those lines. I tend to agree with that advice.
