Upgrade: Any significant jump from gxt260 to gtx460?

Deciding to game in 3d (just purchased the Nividia 3d kit from ewiz).
Since 3d gaming will heavily tax the frame rate to as much as 50% (from 2d).
I game mostly FPS (BFBC2, COD5) and Flight Sim (Fsx, Wings of Prey)
Would the 460 be enough?

Another question: 1gb 460 vs 768mb 460
Any significant increase performance?

Seems like 1gb 460 sold out everywhere I've looked (Egg, Ewiz etc.)
Price is about 10% differential between the 2

Are you referring to your Dell 2405? I thought 3D required a 120Hz monitor (and I thought the 3D kits could be bundled with the 1680x1050 22"ers).

A GTX 460 1GB would be anywhere from 15-25% faster. Not a big jump...but I did it anyway. Got a good price for the GTX 260 ($140) so I didn't lay out that much cash for it. I just got a case of "new-card-itis" more than anything.

well technically it can be no faster in some cases.

1) Nope.
2) I wished. It doesn't come with a monitor.

I'm going to stay with my 260 for now until further notice since the 3d vision kit is on its way from Miami, FL (Ewiz warehoue on East coast supposed)
I'm going to play 3d games on my huge 73" DLP, woo hoo.
From pro reviews of the kit and around other forums (nvidia, avs), most viewers have agreed that 3d in pc gaming will make 2d look retarded.

GTX260 -> GTX360 -> GTX460

but there is not. (They skipped GTX3XX) The biggest difference is the change from DX10 to DX11.

If I were you and just spend to upgrade to 3D I would save your money now and keep your GTX 260 for the games you play and wait closer to Christmas after ATI releases Radeon HD 6000 series. Prices may change significantly afterwards.

Supposedly after they sell off all the gtx 470 stock. So in theory ,it should be as fast or faster then a gtx 470.

GTX 460 is about equal to the GTX 285 which was the top Nvidia card of the same generation of the GTX 260. Sure you get DX 11, but if you look at it on performance only, would you upgrade from GTX 260 to GTX 285? You could, but it's not a drastic performance increase.

I'm waiting for the GTX 475 also... That will be the last Video Card upgrade for my current system. I'm hoping to build a new rig next spring w/ Intel 25nm SSD's

GTX 460 1GB is very different than the 768mb version because the 1GB has 8 more ROPS, obviously more memory and 256bit bus compared to the 768mb which is just 192bit and lesser memory and 24 ROPS compared to 32 from the 1GB version...
