Upgrade Alienware m11x r3 to AC WiFi / 5GHz

I see anecdotes from people who have done it by simply replacing the WiFi module, but I don't really understand how they can use 5GHz. No one mentions buying or installing a 5GHz antenna. Am I missing something?

Antenna is the same for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. I upgraded my computer to an Intel 7260 AC card and it was a nice upgrade.

Just make sure that your bios has white listed support for the module. I upgraded the Wi-Fi card in my M17xR3 from the stock Centrino to the ac7260 using two of the three antenna wires. I ended up taping and tucking that extra wire in the chassis out of the way.
