upgrade advise

Hi,

Its time to upgrade my GTX 480. I was wondering if you think I should upgrade the rest of my
system or if it will be ok.

I have Asus p6td deluxe motherboard, i7 930 Bloomfield @ 2.8ghz, 6gb of g.skill ripjaw series memory, and corsair tx750w power supply.

I have been thinking about the 290x or equivalent.

I like bf3 and soon to be bf4.

no point in buying a 290x when you can get a 780 for slightly less. and that cpu is going to need to be overclocked or a $500+ gpu will be very underutilized in most cases. what resolution are you at because the 280x would make more overall sense for you at 1080?

you should wait a little, during the next few weeks we are probably going to have a lot more information about how your CPU performs on BF4, 290x with custom coolers (?) and... since you want the card for BF4, Mantle...

his cpu at 2.8 is probably no better than running Ivy bridge at 2.2. a 290x or 780 would be a silly card to get with his cpu at stock speeds.
