Upgrade advice needed!

Hey everyone, i'm trying to decide what upgrade will give me the most bang for the buck:
I currently have an A64 3500+, Gigabyte K8NSNXP, gf 6800GT....i'm trying to decide whether i should keep the 3500+ and get a new mobo and a 7800GTX or if I should just get a new proc (i'm thinking A64 4000+ since that's the fastest thats compatible with the latest bios)...also...if i decide to go the new mobo/vidcard route, will the 7800 be extremely CPU limited by the 3500?

You're spending a lot of money for barely gaining any performance increase. But if you were really going to do something I'd say get the motherboard/video card and just overclock your 3500+

Oh i forgot to mention....my mobo/ram (corsair xl series (2-2-2-5)) aren't too compatible...i have to run in single channel for stability and the highest i can push the FSB is like 205Mhz so i don't really know the OC potential of the chip
