Hi all, I am wanting to upgrade my 300a@450 on an abit bx6r2. Which do you think would be the best option.

1/ 700e@933 keeping my bx board but risk my system not liking the high bus speed.

2/ Get a new board, a new power supply and get a duron and try for a gig. Most expensive but better fsb speed.

3/ Get a 633 celeron2 and try for a gig with that instead. This is the cheapest option but not as fast as the other 2. Use money saved to get a DDR system in a few months time.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Chris

I did the celery 633 and am happy with the result, 950 :D, but I'm not that big a gamer. It is entirely possible your PS will work fine with a KT7 MB, thus a Duron/MSI Pro 2 combo should be less than $200.

The Duron/MSI seems a better choice for speed and longevity, depends on how much you want to spend and what you're going to do with the CPU.

Well if you can wait then wait and get a new setup with DDR, instead of spending money on a celeron. But if you want to really upgrade right away go for the Duron. It will last you a while.
