Upgrade Advice Needed, Please Help

I'm planning an upgrade on my PC and wanted to know what a good video card and CPU upgrade would entail. I want the best bang for the buck like everyone else and your input would be deeply appreciated. I would like to stick with another Nvidea video card and AMD CPU. Listed below are my current system specs.

3500+ AMD Athlon CPU
Asrock 939 Dual Sata 2 Socket 939 Motherboard, will take both AGP and PCI cards
2 GB RAM
6800 Ultra 256MB Video Card

Sincerely,

It all depends on your budget.

A 7900GS would be a good upgrade to replace your 6800 ultra.

As for the processor, I'm a little hesitant on what to tell you. There's different paths that you could take, but I'm assuming you don't want to retire your motherboard and ram just yet. If that's the case, then I would either go for an fx-55 or an Opteron 165.

If I were you though, I'd keep the processor and overclock it as performance is more-so linear and steady when upgrading, compared to video cards.

I heard that the 7900 GS was a good way to go. I don't use the PC that much but would like to upgrade for better performance with the newer games. Most games still run like a champ on it without stutters. It'll run the Godfather game without a hiccup but the new Microsoft FLight Simulator will bring even the best system to its knees.

Maybe I'll give the overclocking a shot. Thanks for your help.

Can you provide a link at Newegg.com for the 1900XT card? I couldnt' find it there. Personally, I have had better luck with Nvidea based cards as opposed to ATI. More games seem to recommend them too.
