I currently have a:
CPU:Intel E6400 @ 2.13 stock cool
Mobo: AsRock DualVSTA (piece of shit)
RAM: New Ordered OCZ 800 DDR2 RAM
Graphics: BFG 7900GT stock overclocked
HDD: 80 gb & 250 gb
I want to upgrade my computer above...
things I want to change:
Motherboard, Case, Cooler, Harddrive 500GB
I do A LOT of multitasking on a day to day basis...
Running XP and don't really game that much...
DO I NEED A NEW MOBO AND COOLER AND SHOULD I OVERCLOCK????
(Newbie to computer overclocking and some basic knowledge about Hardware)
will OCing boost my performance by a lot and do i need to go through
all the upgrading just to OC?
thinking about putting in about 300 dollars if upgrade needed...
I need this computer running for about 2-3 more years before I switch...
is a new MB needed of course it all comes down to if OCing is needed...

My plan: switch laptop or PC every 2 years

Your PC is fine, unless you feel that it is not keeping up with whatever you are doing!

If you decide to upgrade, all you'll need is a new motherboard and a CPU cooler.

Get an abit P35 Pro ($144 after rebates http://forums.slickdeals.net/s...=578656&highlight=abit ) You should also be able to use the Paypal $20 discount, and a Tuniq Tower 120 ($45 - $50)

That should take your CPU to 3.2ghz, and the motherboard will be fine for using any CPU available + the upcoming 45nm chips.
