So, keeping up on the latest reviews for computer hardware used to be my hobby, but I haven't kept up in the last couple years. It's time to put some money into my computer, as it is starting to have slowdowns quite often. At the very least, I need some more RAM. I'm not a big gamer, although I have been trying out WoW the last couple days. A great majority of use is web surfing. I do run quite a bit of Excel and Maple for school. Here are the current specs:
Motherboard - ASUS A7N8X Deluxe (Socket A/includes integrated sound)
CPU - Athlon XP 2500+
RAM - 512 MB Crucial PC 3200 DDR
Video Card - Radeon 9100
Power Supply - Antec TruePower 2.0 430W
Case - Antec Sonata
HDD - Maxtor 120 GB 7200rpm (IDE)
Generic DVD/CD-RW
I'd like to keep the budget as low as possible, but am willing to listen to any ideas. At the very minimum, I'm going to throw some more RAM in there. I still have plenty of hard drive space, so that is not an issue. I definitley need a new optical drive, as my current one is starting to give out. So, if you were me, what would you do for an economical upgrade (ranging from just RAM to replacing the motherboard). Also, overclocking my current processor is not an option, it's a dud. Thanks!
