Upgrade 4200+ to 5200+?

I was looking to upgrade in anticipation of new videocards coming out, I figured I would do a CPU/VC upgrade together.

I really don't want to upgrade my MB or RAM, I don't feel it's necessary at this time, I have a ASUS SLI MB and 2GB of Geil DDR.

I can't seem to find any benchmarks on the 5200+ X2 939, does anyone think it's a worthwhile upgrade from a 4200+ X2 939?

just overclock your 4200 to 5200 speeds. no need to waste money, as your cpu is just fine.

save money for the 8800GTX/GTS cards.

5200+ doesn't exist on socket 939 and even if it did, it'd be a worthless upgrade. Like anchitman said, overclock if you feel like you need more CPU power but either way, it probably won't be holding you back too much unless you play at lower-resolutions (and if you do, you can always hike up the AA).

Thanks guys, I was thinking the exact same thing.

While I don't think I can bring myself to spend the $800 the 8800GTX is apparently running for, i'm definitely waiting for the 8800GTS. 🙂
