Upgarded to Outlook 2003 -> Can't use Word XP (2002) as email editor

All my Googling has told me that it's not possible to use WordXP as an email editor for Outlook 2003. This is retarded. There must be a way to make it work.

The ppl we outsourced our Exchange upgrade to never warned the powers that be here that we would lose the functionality, now we're trying to make it work.

Any way to make it work?

Why wouldn't it work?

Because where you normally select that, your only choices are using "Office Word 2003". If you aren't running that, the boxes are greyed out.

Apparently your Word and Outlook need to be of the same version in order to use Word as the email editor, which is what I'm trying to find a work around for.

Ahh...Word XP is 2002 apparently.

Well that's stupid.

If you were given Outlook 2003 that is part of the Full Office 2003 Suite which
as such should have all been installed or updated to 2003 version

Seems to me like you got ripped off by the company that did the work

Outlook 2003 comes with Exchange 2003. We weren't ripped off. (unless you count that they installed this software and now we can't use Word as our editor)

and why didnt you just upgrade to Office2003 standard?
that would fix that issue and there would be no issue..
you cant just upgrade 1 MS office componant and expect the rest of your old ass MS stuff to work with the latest version.

Upgrade and word2003 will become default editor..

well they shoudl have sold you a full version of standard if you needed that fucntion

Then it must have come with the Windows Sever 2003 package, b/c we didn't pay a cent extra for Outlook 2003.

We have about 25 office XP licences, which is why we don't want to upgrade the entire suite. Really I'd rather have just stuck w/ Outlook XP too, which would give us access to Word as our email editor.

My question isn't what should we have done, the question is, can I make this work the way it is?
