Running a MSI ms-6380 MB, it is the K7T266 Pro2-A I believe, with just a TBird 1.1gz in there at the moment. The FSB is running at 100 right now and can handle a 133 FSB processor. I have 2GB of PC 2700 right now, etc.

Question is: there are two XP cores, the Palamino and Thoroughbred, the thoroughbred being the 2000-2600+'s. Now they are two different die's, will they both function in this motherboard? Meaning, I just ordered a 2200+ 266, which makes it the Thoroughbred core I believe.

Can't find any updated info on this cause the board is 2-3 years old I guess. MSI's site is sparce, or i'm looking in the wrong place.

I just went to the MSI website and found info, and it shows that none of the CPU's running at 266 FSB are verified. Obviouly this is wrong outdated info, so any info would be great.

Just use Live Update 3 or 4 or other MSI utility to flash the board with the latest BIOS if that's an option for you.

And then hopefully it'll work. You might want to post a thread on MSI forums since there'll be plenty of users with old MSI boards I bet.

Thanks for the reply.

Think I'm screwed. Thoroughbred core won't work I don't think. Ah well, new MB I guess, hate to waste my 2 GB's of memeory though, argh.
