Updating WinMe?

This is a fresh install of WinMe. I can't update WinMe whatsoever. I figured there was sum bug fixes, but this bug keeps me from fixin any others. When i try to update, the webpage says, "You have an older version of Internet Explorer 5 and Internet Tools. If you would like to download additional components from the Windows Update catalog, you must first upgrade to the latest version. Install Now.

When i click "Install now", ie5setup.exe tries to run, but i get a windows that says "Setup has detected a newer version of Internet Explorer already installed on this system. Setup cannot continue.

It doesn't matter if i run iesetup.exe from its current location or save to my hard drive first, i get the same result.

Anybody know a fix for this?

The latest version of IE is 5.5 SP1, and WinMe comes with IE 5.5. That might be why it says you have an older version. Is that ie5setup.exe that you downloaded the one for IE 5.5 SP1? You can see what version its for by right-clicking it, select properties, then version. The file version should read 5.50.4522.1800. If it's not IE 5.5 SP1, you can get it
here.
