Updating windows default driver--help needed

I would like to know how or where I can go to download new default cd-rw drivers from Microsof. The default driver I have is from 2001, and I think it might be the reason why my CD-RW will not burn at the max the drive can go. I have gone on microsoft.com and windowsupdate.com and can not seem to find any driver updates for it. Any suggestions?
 
More likely, is that the CDRW media is only rated for lower speed. Typically 4x or 8x for CDRW media.
