Updating the half life engine...

Apart from Half Life: Blue Shift, which updates the weapons and faces, is there any patch or something that further updates the engine (I actually think a lot of the graphics hold up well, but what really bothers me is the sky in Xen... Any improvments available for it somewhere?

I admit, that made me laugh aloud (and I'm at work, where it's not so wise to break into sudden hysterics.) I should add I already own Quake 3 and will forever be a fan not only of its graphics but of its great engine which has been used subsequently for many other quality titles.

But for single play, you can't compare the two, and upon getting into Half Life recently, I just wondered if there were any other improvements for it, third-party or otherwise, like the ones that came with Blue Shift?

That 4-year-old-engine is really out of date now.

The last "update" was HalfLife's mod that shipped with the Radeon 8500 that supported Trueform and AA. It was pretty short and there was nothing that would allow you to update the old Half-Life games.

HL II - IF it EVER comes out - will have everything you are looking for.
