One realm of the 'driver' world has me really confused. When I look at the list of drivers presented by my Win XP Device Manager, there is a subcategory of drivers called System Devices (eg. AGP controller). It seems these must mostly reside on the motherboard/chipsets.
Does one need to be more careful about 'messing with' these kinds of drivers? Can one freely disable or even delete these before having windows perform the install of an update, like can be done with many drivers?
Also, are some of these 'integrated' devices rudundant, if I have a graphics or sound card? Can they be DELETED and the graphics, or soundcard just totally take their place? It seems like these kinds of drivers might be NECESSARY in order for the other drivers to work. Can someone explain the role of these drivers and if they need some kind of special handling?
Thanks in advance - yardcat
