Hi

I am currently using a Dell 5523 laptop with a Samsung PM830 2.5" 256GB SSD hard drive. Can someone help me update the firmware? It's not there on the Dell website nor is Samsung Magician helpful.

Also, is there a specific software that I can use to optimize the SSD like the one Intel SSD users have?

Thanks

Why do you think you need to update the firmware? The Samsung Magician software will do that if it is meeded. It also optimizes the SSD. Have you gotten the latest version of Samsung Magician?

What, you can't go to Samsung's site and look ?
Why do you want to update the firmware if you have no issues ?

Go to Samsung's site and get the latest version of the Magician. It's a major improvement over the previous version. It make the firmware update stupid easy, and takes practically no time.

I use the Magician performance optimization once a month but I stop it before the benchmark every other time.
I also use the Magician to delete the temp files.
If you think the Samsung Magician is not helpful.
Then do a speed test with Magician before and after running performance optimization.
I upated 2 m4 firms after that one pc would loose the drive everytime win updated with a reboot.
I would never ever update a firm on a trouble free laptop due to sleep and hib.

Are you definitely sure you have the PM830? If so, the PM830 is the OEM version of the 830, which means the regular consumer firmwares won't work on it. Updates are traditionally offered via the OEM vendor.

You can download the latest edition of Samsung Magician from Samsung's website. It won't allow direct linking but follow the link below and then go to software and download Magician v4.0

http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/model/MZ-7PC128N/EU-downloads#

The bottom line is that OEM products traditionally only get essential updates to fix critical stability problems. If Magician v4.0 is compatible and works with your PM830 and says there are no firmware updates then you've got to the end of the road.

What firmware is the drive running?
