I've got a BX board that's currently running an ATA 33 drive, i'm told by IBM their new ATA 100 is compatable but wnon't take advantage of the speed unless i get a ATA 100 PCI card.
Is this good info?

Yes, that is correct. THe HD will work in the normal ata33 mode, not in the ata100 mode. But don't sweat it, because that speed increase is not sustained, but is a short burst rate. It is something you will not be able to notice at all because the difference is so small.

Thanks for the info. Is it correct that if i install the ATA 100 card i will get the benefit (be it small) of the ATA 100?

Yes, you will need a mobo that has the ide's that have ata66 support built in or you can get a ata100 PCI card in order for your HD to work in the ata100 mode

You will then also need a ata100 HD, and a the special ata-80-conductor cable.
