Updating Drivers on Win7?

Is anyone updating any of the drivers in Win7 other than say the ATI ones which are actually made for Win7?

I decided to install the drivers for "vista 64" for my network card which was not picked up (it worked) and also the Intel Inf updates for my Intel p45 chipset and SATA/AHCI drivers etc. and everything went to hell. I mean it worked for a bit and then now I can't boot into Win7 anymore.

So... was I an idiot? when I installed the chipset drivers it recognized my SATA ports etc and everything seemed to be ok till I rebooted. Now it's all fried.

I take it leave things well enough alone?

Mind you I did install my retail copy of PowerDVD to watch my Blu Ray movies.. just after the install.. that could have killed it. Not sure.
