Much as I'd like to finally beat it, SS2 crashes on my XP rig. I start a level, black screen, an invisible pop up error message, back to desktop. Tried a gazillion workarounds, patches to no avail. :| I still have a Win98 rig in another room, but still... :frown:

if you don't want to set it up on your other rig, just make a small partition on yur HD for Win98SE and old games. ;)

i know i probably will (again) :p

Hmm.. actually I've been thinking about it. I heard of some app that can partition a HDD with data on it without reformatting.

Then again, even if it worked, could I still set up a dual-boot XP/98 without a re-install?

If so... PROFIT!! :p

Morrowind has a bunch of texture packs +additional models that improve the graphics tenfold - not that morrowind was an eyesore or anything of that sort . . ..

Partition Magic

. . . . if the 'workarounds' don't work. ;)

I'll have to check into the SS2 update. Too bad the game studios don't update some of thier older games to take advantage of the newer hardware or at least to be playable under a newer os.

Anyone know if there is anything for the original Gabrial Knight: sins of the father or Privateer. Man those were a blast to play.

CHronicles of Riddick is on sale RIGHT NOW at GoGamer (i think) look in CURRENT hot deals (ends soon) it's like only $15!!!!!!!

Prolly not. In my experience, if you wanna dual boot you gotta put in win98se first. But, might work if you've got an empty c: partition, never tried that.

Novalogic is releasing Delta Force I with the Joint Ops engine; calling it Delta Force: Next Generation. Should be out in April. Here's hoping it maintains the original's gameplay.

bummer . . . . once it goes on sale, it usually goes on sale later 'elsewhere' ;)

Keep lookin' . . . gREAT game!

And Partition Magic will create a new partition for 98SE on Ming's XP rig . . . . of course it's not freeware but is it pretty easy.

Me - i'm gonna do a reformat pretty soon, anyway . . . i'll put up with a dual-boot to play a classic game as highly regarded as SS2 with updated gfx. :)

The movie industry 'recycles' movies and ideas . . . . why not the game industry . .. i am certain there are some 'classics" worthy of 'making over' . . . . just hoping they don't get the "doom iii treatment".

I often think the same. For Dues Ex and SS2, I'd only update the gfx. I don't think the stories can be improved upon. In SS2, DON'T mess with the audio, it's outstanding (just make it 5.1 or whatever).

I think it's just too soon to remake them. They're like what 6 yrs old maybe? Hollywood waits longer than that for remakes usually. If I had the money I'd buy up the rights for those two titles and roll 'em out in about 10 or 15 yrs for the new gen. By then I might even have forgotten enough to play 'em again myself (would be like 4th or 5th time. They had replay value for me)
