Updating Bios with Alt-F2

I have never updated a bios before. What files will I need exactly on the floppy, the bios file and the awdflash fiile? So all I do is stick floppy in then hit Alt-F2 when I turn the computer on and thats it? Does it matter if I do this before or after I install Windows XP? Thanks

I just did it. Only thing on disk is what abit gave me in the download and the flash utility.

You can do it with a hard drive as it is the Bios, NOT OS

The abit download also gave me two files the bios file and the awdflash. I thought the flash utility was the awdflash file. So did you have two or three files total?

After you download the bios file to a floppy, doubleclick on the file. After you boot from the floppy, when you get the to A:\

type the gollowing

RUNME

and don't touch anthing until it's finished.

Edit: Don't know if this is true with the newest Abit boards. Worked with the older kt7, kt7a, kt7 raid, kt7a raid, and KR7 series.
