Guys,

I have the Asus P6T7 WS Supercomputer motherboard and it is working perfectly.

I just checked my BIOS version and it is from 04/20/09 which I believe was the first version of the board.

Anyway, there are several updates on Asus' website for this motherboard but I wanted to ask if it is safe to update the BIOS and is it worth it or even needed if things are working fine.

Does updating the BIOS improve performance or stability?

What do you guys recommend?

Here's the link on the Asus page for all available updates: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

What about the other updates for SATA, LAN, Utilities etc.?? Should I do those too?

And, what is the procedure for updating the BIOS and these other things for the motherboard? I've never done it before so could you please explain the steps clearly?

Thanks.

Typically just look on the website for instructions. More than likely its a flash utility than you just run. And the real answer is if the machine is running fine, then no, you don't nor should you update the bios. Now if there is some bug or you're trying to get a better overclock then updating the bios is worth doing. But short of some specific reason, if the machine is running good, then leave the bios alone.

use the EZflash utility from within the bios. Just put the new bios image on a usb drive, plug in usb port, reboot computer and go into bios, remove OC and reboot again and go back into bios (ignore this step if not OC'd), go to last tab in bios that has EZFlash utility, run EZ flash utility, choose drive letter that is associated with usb drive, choose bios image... etc.. etc.. etc.
