For all of you that were asking.
Here goes:
------------------------
Corey, Russell, and I have now secured deals with Montrail (shoes), Thorlo (socks), GVP Gear (backpacks), and Backcountry Outfitters (Ice-axes).
With only two months (approximately) to go and one month until we need to start shipping food, we're working hard to get airline tickets, gaiters, some miscellaneous clothing options, lightweight sleeping bags, and the big one - FOOD. If any of you have donations of Top Ramen you'd like to send my way (or any other hiking food), email me, as it would be MUCH appreciated. We're working on the lines of 5000 calories per day, and trying to consume enough calories is hard enough, without considering protein, nutrients, etc., as well. Costco (http://www.costco.com) looks like they will be helping us, but we don't know with how much yet - we're asking for $1000 in food certificates. Approximately $5000 worth of food will be consumed over the duration of the trip, so we'll see how this works out.
As of now, $101.53 has been raised for the ADA, and another $250 is most likely coming our way.
We will be leaving April 22nd for Campo, Mexico, and are planning on beginning hiking around 4am the next morning, starting with a goal of around 15 miles/day and increasing it gradually, depending on heat in the desert.
Our goal is to finish by September 1st, meaning we have to average approximately 21 miles per day over the 4+ months.
So far, people have agreed to meet up with us around San Jacinto, Sanora Pass, Ashland (continuing through most of Oregon, hopefully), and most of Washington (the home stretch).
Not much else to give for updates right now. I'll let you know when I get on the news, or when we get our food situation straightened out.
Rob
