Updated XP. Firefox scroll pad doesn't work anymore! Help!

I just upgraded last night on my laptop to the newest Windows updates. I used to be able to scroll up and down pages in Firefox before the update. Now when I scroll up and down a little icon shows up that looks like the sidebar but the page doesn't move up or down. Funny thing is that the scroll still works in Internet Explorer. Probably a Microsoft trick!

I noticed that the update for XP had a Synaptics update for my touchpad. Maybe this is the problem?

I would probably go with the newest drivers from the manufacturer of the laptop. Check the settings for it first though.
